At the Housing Resource Center, we are working to ensure that every person in our community has a roof over their head and the support that they need for long-term success.    

The Housing Resource Center is a safe, welcoming daytime space to: 

  • Charge phones and devices  

  • Access food, clothing, and toiletries (as available)  

  • Connect with staff for housing and support services  

Hours 

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday 

8:30 - 4:30 p.m.  

  • Tuesday, Thursday

8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Getting to the Housing Resouce Center

To reach HRC by public transportation, you can use the
GRTC Transit System, which operates most of the city’s bus routes. 

 

Recommended Bus Routes: 

  • Route 5 – Cary/Main/Whitcomb: This route includes a stop at Oliver Hill & Fairfield, which is directly on Oliver Hill Way  

  • Other nearby routes may include (depending on your starting location:

    • Route 12 (Church Hill)

    • Route 14 (Hermitage/East Main)

Who can use the Housing Resource Center? 

The Housing Resource Center is here to support people currently experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. No appointment is needed, just walk in during on-call hours (MWF 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) or anytime during business hours to utilize our space. 

Is the Housing Resource Center a shelter?  

No, the HRC is not a shelter. The HRC is a place to connect individuals experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity with housing and supportive housing services.  

What services are available at the HRC? 

Services may include: 

  • Access to restrooms and a safe place to rest during the day  

  • Phone and device charging stations  

  • Food, clothing, and toiletries (as available)  

  • Case management and housing navigation  

  • Referrals to shelters, healthcare, and other community resources 

  • Connection to employment assistance 

Can I get help finding housing or shelters? 

Yes. Our staff can connect you with housing programs, help you apply for assistance, and support you through the process of finding stable housing (services may be dependent upon eligibility and program availability).  

Do I need to bring anything with me? 

If possible, bring any identification or documents related to your housing or income. However, if you don’t have these, we can still help you get started. 

Is everything free? 

Yes. All services provided at the HRC are free of charge.
