Karolina & Joseph

We are so excited to open our home to a precious little one. We are a part of a beautiful, tight-knit community of families who love to go on adventures and, along with all of our family nearby, are ready to shower our child with love.
A letter to the birth parents
Dear Expectant Parents,
Thank you for taking the time to learn about us and for considering us as potential parents for your child. We know your decision comes from a place of deep love, and we are truly honored to be part of your journey. We are Joseph and Karolina, and since we got married in 2021, we have been preparing a home full of love and daily joys in Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Our local community is full of kind people and breathtaking mountain sunsets that often make us stop and appreciate the moment.
Although we were born on different continents—Karolina in Poland and Joseph in Kentucky—we grew up in families that were very similar: loud, loving, full of laughter, and always centered around being together. We are both the oldest siblings in our large families, and because of that, we’ve always dreamed of a home filled with children, noise, and love. Together, we balance one another and share a deep respect and gratitude for the life we’re building.
We can’t wait to experience parenthood—to guide a child as they grow, to support who they are becoming, and to give them a life filled with love, stability, curiosity, and laughter. We look forward to sharing family traditions, traveling to see loved ones across the U.S. and in Poland, and creating memories rooted in belonging and joy. Thank you again for considering us. We hold much respect for you and for the love you have for your child.
With gratitude,
Karolina & Joseph

Joseph
State Attorney who Represents Disabled Veterans
Joseph is the life of the party–always making sure that everyone is laughing and is entertained, while also being a strong support system for his family and friends, and for the veterans whom he serves through his work. Joseph also loves welcoming people into our home. When he hosts, no detail feels too small—everything is thoughtful, beautiful, and done with so much love. His heart is especially evident in the way he cares for our godchildren. He is the kind of godfather who truly shows up. Recently, we celebrated one of their baptismal anniversaries with a “make your own pizza” night. Joseph made sure there were plenty of toppings—especially fun ones like mac and cheese bites—and turned the evening into a joyful and memorable experience. There was cooking, laughter, and even a dance party while the pizzas baked. Our godson and his siblings were so happy, and watching Joseph with them filled my heart.
I thank God often—many times each day—for Joseph, for his gentle heart, and for the loving, thoughtful, and most caring father he will be to the children we are blessed with.”
Karolina
University Student Advisor
As her family and friends would attest, Karolina’s strongest attribute is her genuine, caring nature. No matter the circumstance, she does everything in her power to support family, friends, and even strangers who are in need. A native of Poland, who grew up with three siblings, two of whom are a decade younger than she is, she was raised with a deep sense of hospitality, and that instinct shines whenever she has the opportunity to care for others.
As Joseph will tell you: “I admire this quality not only because it reflects the goodness of her character, but because it makes her such a strong, dependable partner in life’s joys and challenges. Karolina is also charming, intelligent, and always up for an adventure—whether that’s apple-picking at a local orchard or hiking in a national forest. With her wonderful cooking, beautiful sense of style, and warm heart, she has truly turned our house into a home filled with coziness and joy.”
Our Community
The first time Joseph visited the Shenandoah Valley—after already accepting an offer to attend graduate school at JMU—he was immediately struck by its beauty. Any worries about moving somewhere unfamiliar were quickly replaced by awe at the landscape, the kindness of the people, the splendor of Shenandoah National Park, and the incredible sense of community. After law school, he returned to this area even before securing a job, because he knew this was where I wanted to put down roots. When Karolina and Joseph began dating, he was excited to share this place with her, and she quickly fell in love as well—with nature always just outside the door, skies often filled with rainbows, and a welcoming, close-knit community.
After getting married, we purchased a home with a beautiful deck that is certainly too large for just two people, but perfect for hosting friends for prayer breakfasts, knitting teas, and joyful birthday celebrations. More importantly, it offers space for children to thrive—cozy winter evenings by the fireplace, messy arts-and-crafts afternoons in the playroom, and a room each child can truly call their own.
We believe deeply that relationships grow from care and commitment, and that belief has blessed us with many dear friends—locally, across the state, and beyond. Joseph often jokes that we never need a hotel because wherever we go, there are friends who would welcome us into their homes in a heartbeat. We do our best to be there for our friends in their needs and moments of joy, and they always support us with their love, time, and kindness. Some of our closest friends date back to Joseph’s college years. Others have come into our lives through work, church, the Knights of Columbus, and connections made through mutual friends. Many of our local friends have young children, some of them adopted, and we look forward to our children growing up surrounded by such a kind, supportive community. Our home and hometown are ready to welcome such bundles of joy with open arms.

“Karolina and Joseph are flexible, patient, and understanding, always approaching challenges with grace and optimism. As a mother of three toddlers, I know the daily challenges and truly believe Joseph and Karolina have what it takes to love and nurture children in their home. Any child would be lucky to have them as parents.”
“I have seen [Joseph and Karolina] with many children (friends’ kids), including godchildren, and from that have concluded that they are excellent with children. If/when I have children of my own, I would have no qualms entrusting my own flesh and blood in their care.”
“In my judgment, Joseph and Karolina are loving, even-tempered, mature, and responsible adults who take their personal, professional, and moral obligations seriously, but are also full of joy, cheer, and good humor. I think that the combination of these qualities provides a natural foundation for them to excel as parents."

Us with our godson, Mark, and his younger brother, John, who we took to a pumpkin patch to enjoy delicious cider, play with tractors, and pick some pumpkins for Halloween. Unsurprisingly, Mark picked a massive one.
Our yearly Easter tradition: celebrating Easter Sunday with traditional Polish Easter breakfast dishes that we cook as a family, then enjoy throughout the afternoon together.

An afternoon surprise: celebrating unexpectedly meeting one of our godsons with delicious beaver tails.
