A letter to the birth parents

Thank you for taking your time to get to know us. We understand what a difficult time this must be and admire and respect your decision and strength. We come to the adoption process with open hearts, empathy, and love. We look forward to getting to know you and are excited to take this journey with you. When we made the decision to adopt, our families provided love, support, and encouragement. Our families are a big part of our lives and support our desire to adopt a child. We hope to extend the same support to you as we move forward together. We both dream of having a child but have been unable to. We want to adopt a child because both of us want to share our love by growing a family.

Donna

Child and Adolescent Therapist

I grew up in Chesterfield, VA. I have always had a passion for volunteering, working with children, and playing sports. I currently work as a child and adolescent therapist. I love getting to use my playfulness, genuineness, and kindness to help others. I love playing tennis and pickleball and going to the gym. I coach a youth soccer team and enjoy sharing my love of soccer with a new generation. Alec describes me as loving, playful, strong, and silly.

Alec

Chemistry Instructor

I grew up outside of Reading, Pennsylvania with my mother, father, and younger brother. I played football, swam, and threw shotput, discus, and javelin for my high school. I am an Eagle Scout and a big part of that journey was volunteering and assisting my local community. I am also very passionate about science and education and that lead me to complete my Ph.D. and teach chemistry at a local university. One of the highlights of my job is that I can continue to give back to our community by hosting chemistry “magic shows” with lots of fun demonstrations. Donna describes me as intelligent, goofy, dependable, and caring.

Our Community

Our adopted child will be around our families in Eastern Virginia and Eastern Pennsylvania in addition to our local Southwest Virginia friends and coworkers. Our friends and family are excited for us to be able to have a family! We live in a small single-family home neighborhood with children of varying ages. Our neighborhood even has its own playground! We both grew up with dogs and have had three dogs together. Currently we have a beagle named Hokie.
