Will & Amber

Dear Birth Mother,

We love you. We cannot imagine all the emotions you are feeling throughout this process. We have been praying for you. We want you to know that we are here for you and your child. We want to have the relationship with you that you would like and to assist you in having the relationship with your child that you desire. If that is seeing your child frequently and having consistent communication with us as the adoptive parents, we support that. If you need space and a break in communication, we understand that. If you need flexibility and adjustments between those two ends of the spectrum as time goes on, we respect that and want to honor that.
Most important, we want you to take comfort in knowing your child will be well taken care of. They will be raised in a home filled with love. They will live in a diverse community with the support of friends and family. They will have two parents who work daily with children of various ages, races, and backgrounds. Their adoptive mother would be an elementary school teacher who has taught first and second grade for a decade. Their adoptive mother would be there every step of the way with your child through their elementary school journey. Their adoptive father is a college basketball coach at the University of Richmond. They would get to see their adoptive father mentoring young college basketball players along with having these players be mentors to them growing up.
Above all else, we want you to know that you and your child are loved and supported- by both of us as the adoptive parents, by our biological families, by our neighborhood and living community in Chesterfield County, Virginia, and our work communities at Chesterfield County Public Schools and the University of Richmond. We acknowledge the emotions you are feeling we cannot understand. We recognize we will not be able to answer every question you have in a letter. We just want to give you our word that you and your child will always have love and support from us and those around us. We love you.

God Bless,

Amber and Will Gipe
