Nate & Shannon
Hi there!
We are Nate, Shannon, and Nolan, and we are so happy you are taking a moment to get to know us. We hope this gives you a glimpse of the love and joy our family has to share. Although we have never met, we want you to know that we have been thinking of you. We know you are facing difficult decisions, and we hope you find peace and guidance through this time. We are excited to grow our family again through adoption and would love to meet you to hear your story, as well as the hopes and dreams you have for your baby.
We are a happy family living on a small farm in Williamsburg, Virginia, next door to grandparents, aunts, and siblings. Shannon is a carpenter, gardener, and stay-at-home mom to our son, Nolan, who we adopted in June 2020. She spent two years building our little farmhouse and loves being outside and working with her hands. You'll typically find her covered in dirt or sawdust. She is loving and creative, with a sarcastic sense of humor. Nate is a college professor who loves helping out with do-it-yourself projects on the weekends. Shannon loves teasing him about his dorkiness; he's passionate about mathematics, computer programming, and music. He replies that she's a dork lover, which is even worse! Nate is thoughtful and kind, with a goofy streak. Nolan is a happy and curious little boy who loves books, exploring outside, and playing with family and friends. We have a sweet cockapoo pup named Finn and a flock of chickens. Since our first days together, we always wanted to create a family farm with children and animals running around. We feel so lucky to be living our dream.
Our relationship is rooted in mutual respect, curiosity, and learning by doing. We love to travel and explore different cultures, whether on a road trip or internationally. We also love being in nature and enjoy hiking and camping trips. We value experiences over material things. Our home is filled with laughter, music, good food, and supportive family and friends.
We knew when we met that we couldn’t have biological children. Our dreams for our family have evolved as we've learned about open adoption and experienced it ourselves. We exchange frequent texts, calls, and photos with Nolan's birth family, and they visit every few months. They have become family, and we all look forward to sharing Nolan's life. We are equally hopeful about creating a meaningful relationship with you if and when you wish. We want our child to feel proud of their origins. We promise to talk about you and raise your child knowing who you are. We're thinking of you as you decide who will parent your child and are confident that you find the right family for your baby.
With peace and love,
Shannon and Nate
