Hello,
We are Ryan and Cyndi. Thank you for taking a moment to read about us and learn about our dream of becoming first-time parents through adoption. Through this book, we invite you into our lives so that you can gather some idea of the loving and secure home we can provide for your baby.
We’ve always known that we wanted to expand our family through adoption, and even though infertility has led us down this path earlier than expected, we couldn’t be more excited. We respect your strength in considering adoption and intend on being completely open, explaining to your child from an early age that you made your decision with love in your heart. Please know that any child that comes into our lives will always be loved, cared for, encouraged, and nurtured.
Most of our 11 years together (we’ve been married for 8) have been in a little, red-brick house on a quiet street in Virginia. The neighbors are friendly, kids fill the neighborhood, and we’re close to our “extended family”. We love our home and have made sure that we have plenty of room for kids, with a big backyard that we can fill with jungle gyms, swings, and trampolines.
We wholly believe that “it takes a village” to raise a child, and we have lots of “aunts” and “uncles” and “cousins” nearby. You’ll meet lots of them later on in the book. We all spend lots of time together, and the kids enjoy each other’s company as much as the adults.
Ryan works as a manager at a local software development company. He loves to study management philosophies, and we often giggle as we read about techniques for raising children and how similar they are to managing software developers. Set clear expectations, recognize and reward good behavior, give them the tools to succeed, and put them in timeout when they break the rules. OK, so it’s not exactly the same, but still pretty darn close.
Cyndi is an accountant for a local non-profit. The people and the environment she works with provide her great pleasure. We both find our work lives very rewarding. However, when not at work, you can usually find us reading a book, surfing the Internet, playing video games, or hanging out with friends, all things we hope to share with our son or daughter.
We can’t say that we know what you’re going through, but do know this; we will provide a loving, nurturing home life for your child. We will provide the guidance necessary for him or her to become a moral and ethical person and to treat others with love and kindness. Thank you for looking over our book and considering us in this decision.
