From the Desk of ...

Dear Friends of CCC:

Spring is a time of hope and the celebration of new life. April showers bring May flowers. Foliage springs forth into deep shades of green, and Christians worldwide celebrate the resurrection of Christ. It is important to remember that there are people in the Commonwealth who are not able to fully share in our joy and celebration. However, you can help extend the circle of joy by supporting CCC's mission to serve the most vulnerable, including handicapped infants and children. Let me share with you the real-life story of one such child.

Baby Alana came into foster care with CCC soon after she was born. Everyone who saw the curly-haired infant said she was beautiful! But Alana was diagnosed with a rare and fatal illness. She would need extensive medical care and a courageous, emotionally strong team of caregivers to support her.

CCC foster parents Fran and Shelly took Alana into their lives to begin the difficult journey of doctor visits, sleepless nights and inconsolable cries.

Last fall, prayers were answered when CCC found a wonderful adoptive family. Alana's new parents now report that she is happy and thriving. I don't know how long this amazing little girl will be with us, but I am certain that Alana now receives the endless love and nurturing that all childen deserve. I share Alana's story with you because you care about the welfare of children and famlies.

Your contribution will help CCC deliver life-changing human services to babies such as Alana and perhaps someone you know and love.

Sincerely,
Rev. David J. Bergner, SDS, DSW, ACSW
Executive Director
